Creating and amending searches

The Create search allows you to set up an automatic search on your PVR, to record programmes by words that appear in their name. You can choose to search for an exact phrase, or a partial match. For example, an exact match for ER would match only that programme; a partial match would match Gardeners World, Later and many others.

If you are using Jag’s EPG to retrieve searches, and you select an Exact search, our scripts will add the appopriate modifiers to the search; you should select Partial if you wish to use the special search options supported by that TAP.

Users of the UK Auto Schedule tap can choose to search titles, descriptions and extended information for programmes, as well as selecting specific days of the week.

The search and amend screens allow you to select a range of channels and days. If you do not select a particular option, the system assumes you mean ‘any’ for that particular setting.

Since the format of the search screen differs slightly, depending on which TAP you are using to set searches, it is recommended that you delete any searches that have not been sent to your PVR and recreate them if you change your choice of TAP.

Viewing searches

The View searches screen shows all the searches in the database for your user id, including ones that have already been retrieved by your PVR, but not deleted. It also indicates whether a search was set by text message or via the web, if it has not yet been retrieved by your PVR

You can amend an individual search by clicking on the search phrase; you will be taken to an edit screen, similar to the Create search page.

To remove a search completely, so that it will not be transferred to your PVR, click the Delete option, and then click Update at the bottom of the page.

To purge old searches that have already been retrieved by your PVR tick the purge option at the bottom of the page, before clicking Update.
