Installation instructions

Unzip the Archive V1.0a.zip file to your PC, using the directory structure within the ZIP file.

NOTE: This installation package uses the traditional UK TAP Project” directory structure.  See the section “INI and LOGO File Locations” for information about an alternative directory structure.

Using Altair, copy all the files and directories from the “Copy to Toppy PC directory to the Toppy into the Program Files sub-directory where you wish to install to (eg. Auto Start).

This should result in a similar directory structure as below on your Toppy:

Program Files

Auto Start

UK TAP Project

Source Logos

Note: “Auto Start” can be replaced by which ever directory you wish to install the TAP into.

Invoke the Archive V1.0a TAP.

Note: This installation files contain a default logo.dat for the channel logos for the major Australian Broadcasters and will overwrite any existing logo.dat file.  If you want to keep your existing logo.dat do not copy the default one over with Altair.

INI and LOGO File Locations

To help in sharing logo files with other TAPs, Archive will make use of one of two directory paths to find its INI file (“OZArchive.ini”) and it’s logo file (“Logo.dat”).

Archive will look for the following directories in the following order:

  1. “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Archive” and “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Logos”.  If both directories are present Archive will use these for its INI and Logo files respectively.

  2. <TAP Starting Dir>/UK TAP Project.  If this directory is present, Archive will use it for both its INI and Logo files.

  3. If neither the directories in (1) nor (2) are present, then Archive will automatically create the following directory paths:
    /ProgramFiles/Settings/Archive
    /ProgramFiles/Settings/Logos
A default “OZArchive.ini” file will be created in “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Archive”

Playback Progress Information

Archive will automatically keep track of how much of a particular file has been watched.   This is actively maintained and tracked as you watch, fast-forward, rewind or stop playback of a file.

This progress information is displayed as a progress bar under the filename in the file list, along with an indication as to how many minutes have been watched, and how many remain unwatched.

Once a recording has been watched past 95% of the file duration Archive will consider it to be ‘watched’ and a blue tick indicator as shown below will be displayed to indicate this.

If a watched recording is ‘resumed’ it will start from the beginning again.

Normally when you select a recording in Archive with the OK key it will resume from the last position.   Pressing the Play key on a highlighted recording will start playback from the beginning of the recordings.  Configuration option #17 can be used to swap these two keys over depending on personal preference.

If you wish to clear the progress information for a recording, you can select the “Reset Progress” button from the Program Detail screen.

Alternatively, progress information for all recordings can be removed via the Archive Main Menu.

New File Indicators

Archive will indicate new files that have been recording since the last time Archive was displayed, by placing a yellow star in column one.   This will only appear if config option #27 has not been set to “Not Displayed”.

If files are automatically recorded, and automatically moved to specific folders, then the file icons will also have new file indicators displayed for them.

Folders which contain new files in any of its subfolders will also be highlighted with a star.

If a folder contains new files in its immediate folder level, a counter showing the number of new files will be shown in column 5 if config option #27 has been set to “Displayed with star and folder file count”.

Once a file has been seen in the Archive list its ‘new’ flag is reset and the star will not be seen again.

Resetting ‘New’ Flags

All the ‘new’ flags for all files can be cleared by selecting the “Clear All ‘New’ Flags” option from the Archive main menu.

Recycle Bin

Archive allows files to be ‘deleted’ to a Recycle Bin facility before they are permanently deleted.

Use of the Recycle Bin for deleted files in activated by setting Archive config option #21 to “Delete to recycle bin (with prompt)” or “Delete to recycle bin (no prompt)”.

The current Recycle Bin contents are displayed by pressing the Recall key -

The Recycle Bin view is indicated by the yellow, vertical column separators, and the recycle bin icon displayed next to the filename.

The Archive Recycle Bin uses a similar method as the ImproBox TAP so files placed into the Recycle Bin by Archive or ImproBox can be displayed and/or restored using either TAP.

Recycle Bin Cleanout

When a file is placed in the Recycle Bin it is simply been renamed so that you don’t see if in the traditional file list view.  Therefore, placing a file in the Recycle Bin does not free up any disk space.  This means that the Recycle Bin must be cleaned out on a regular basis or the Topfield disk will eventually fill up.

There are several ways to clean out files from the Recycle Bin:

  1. Manually Delete individual recycled files.
When displaying the contents of the Recycle Bin, individual recycle files can be deleted by highlighting the file and pressing the white key
.  This will permanently delete the highlighted file.

  2. Manually Delete recycled files from a directory.
When displaying the contents of the Recycle Bin, recycle files from the currently displayed directory can be deleted by pressing the green key
.  This will permanently delete all recycled files from the current directory.

  3. Manually Delete all recycled files from Recycle Bin.
When displaying the contents of the Recycle Bin, recycle files from the entire Recycle Bin can be deleted by pressing the yellow key
.  This will permanently delete all recycled files.
All recycled files can also be deleted from the Archive Main Menu by selecting the “Empty the Recycle Bin” option.

  4. Automatically Delete recycled files at TAP startup.
If config option #22 is set to “Automatic At Archive TAP Startup”, the Archive TAP will automatically delete all recycled files when the Archive TAP is first started.  If the Archive TAP is in your Topfield Autostart directory this would normally be when the Topfield is first turned on.

  5. Automatically Delete recycled files daily at 3AM.
If config option #22 is set to “Daily At 3AM (if Topfield is running)”, the Archive TAP will automatically delete all recycled files daily at 3AM if the Topfield and the Archive TAP is running.  This is convenient if you leave your Topfield on 24 hours a day.

Recycle Bin File Renaming

When files are moved into, or restored from the Recycle Bin they may be automatically renamed if a file with the same name already exists.

For example:

1)       You record News.rec

2)       You delete it to the recycle bin - it gets renamed News.rec.del

3)       If you now record another News.rec you have News.rec in your normal files and News.rec.del in your Recycle Bin.

4)       If you restore the original News recording from the Recycle Bin it can't be renamed to "News.rec" as that one already exists, so Archive restores it to "News-1.rec"

5)       You would now see News and News-1 in the normal files.

Another cause for the rename may be this:

1)       You record News.rec

2)       You delete it to the Recycle Bin - it gets renamed News.rec.del

3)       You record another News.rec

4)       You delete this new News.rec to the Recycle Bin - it gets renamed to
"News-1.rec.del" as a "News.rec.del" already exists in the Recycle Bin.

5)       In this case you would see both a News and News-1 in the Recycle Bin.

If a file needs to be renamed when it is restored from the Recycle Bin you will be displayed a message box indicating the new renamed file name.

28.

Rename On Move :

When a file is moved into another directory, if there is a file with the same name Archive can rename and move the file.  The file is renamed by appending an increasing number to the filename (eg. News-1.rec  News-23.rec)

  • Rename and confirm
Archive will select an appropriate name to rename the file to and will display a confirmation message for the rename and move.

  • Do not rename
    Archive
will not automatically rename conflicting file names, and you will not be allowed to move a file into a subfolder where a file with the same name already exists.

Logo Creation

Channel logos for Archive are based on 38h x 60w gif images.  These are then combined into a single file logo.dat through the use of the MakeLogos TAP.

Logos are associated with specific channels by matching with their Channel Name, or via their LCN (LCN matching is new for Archive).  If Archive cannot find an appropriate logo for a channel it will display the channel name as text.

Being part of the UK TAP Project, Archive can utilise an existing logo.dat file that may be available for the Surfer, Auto Scheduler or UK Timers TAPs.  The logo filenames must match the Toppy channel numbers, unlike Improbox, these names are case sensitive and should have all punctuation (excluding spaces) removed from their names.

The installation package comes with a sample logo.dat and a set of sample GIF images.  The sample logo.dat has been created for the UK and Australian broadcasters.

For the Australian broadcasters, the following logos for the major metro broadcasters have been provided:

2.gif                  ABC

3.gif                  SBS

7.gif                  Seven Digital

9.gif                  Nine Digital

10.gif                TEN Digital

21.gif                ABC 2

33.gif                SBS News

38.gif                SBS Radio 1

39.gif                SBS Radio 2

200.gif   ABC Radio

201.gif   ABC Jazz Radio

999.gif   Virtual Playback Channel

Additional Australian broadcaster logos can be obtained under the “UK TAPs” section at:   http://chris-anderson.customer.netspace.net.au/

How to Create Your Own Logos:

  • On your PC, create a gif image of the logo of 38 x 60 pixels.
  • On your Toppy create the following directory structure:

Program Files

Auto Start

UK TAP Project

Source Logos

Note: Auto Start can be replaced by which ever directory you wish to install the TAP into.

  • Copy all your logos to the “Source Logos” folder
  • Copy the makelogos.tap file into the “UK TAP Project” folder.
  • From the Toppy, run the MakeLogos TAP in the “UK TAP Project” folder.
  • You can either preview the gif files, the dat file or create a dat file.
  • Create a logo.dat file by pressing the OK key.  This will create a logo.dat file in the “UK TAP Project” folder.  This can be left in the “UK TAP Project” folder or moved to the ProgramFiles/Settings/Logos” folder.

History

History

V1.0     18 November 2006

NEW:

-          RECYCLE BIN.  Archive now has a Recycle Bin function (enabled via option #21).  Files can be ‘deleted’ to the Recycle Bin, where they can be recovered if accidentally ‘deleted’ from Archive.  The Recycle Bin can be manually emptied, or emptied automatically at TAP startup or daily at 3AM.
File/Folder Delete confirmation panels can now be made optional when using the Recycle Bin via config option #21.

-          MOVE FILE/FOLDER.  Files and folders can be moved to other subdirectories, or to the parent directory.  This routine uses a TAP Extension that may not work on certain firmwares.

-          RENAME ON MOVE.  Config option #28 allows files to be renamed during a move operation if a file with the same name already exists in the target directory.  Folders are not renamed during a move.

-          NEW FILE INDICATORS.  Files that are new since the last time Archive was activated can be indicated by a star in column 1.  Folders containing new files, or subfolders with new files, will be indicated by a star.  Config option #27 controls the displaying of the new file indicator.

-          DELETE NON-EMPTY FOLDERS.  A new config option (#18) has been created to allow you to prevent the deletion of folders that still contain recordings or subfolders.  If you set this option to "Cannot delete non-empty folders" you will not be allowed to delete a folder until all its recordings and sub-folders are deleted.

-          EXTENDED INFO FONT SIZE. A new config option (#19) has been created to allow you to specify the font size (small or large) of the extended information displayed on the Info page.

-          SCROLL THROUGH ENTRIES IN INFO PAGE.  When the Info page is displayed, you can now scroll through each of the entries in the archive using the channel +/- keys without having to return to the archive list.

-          GMT_OFFSET.INI FILE.  If the PBK TAP GMT_Offset.ini files is present, and config option #26 is set to “Yes” it will be read for the GMT offset and daylight saving information.

-          FILELIST KEY HANDLING.  New config option#24 can be set to determine how the Filelist key is handled when Archive is active.

-          INI FILE LOCATION.  Archive will now look in the traditional “UK TAP Projects” for its INI and logo files, and also “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Archive” for the INI and “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Logos” for the logo.dat.   “/ProgramFiles/Settings/Archive” will have priority if both locations exist.

CHANGED:

-          FILE DETAIL CHECKING.  Information about files and folders are now cached and checked at Archive startup so that we can now pick up details of changes in file sizes for cutting of files and recordings ending.

-          FILE DATESTAMP.  Added “YYYY*MM*DD” as a date stamp that can be picked up and removed on the Archive file display.

-          LINE SELECTION.  Info the Archive file list and Recycle Bin view you can now directly jump to a specific line by using the digit keys 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0.  “0” will jump to the 10th line if it is displayed.

-          5100 FILE SUPPORT.  Updated to handle the descriptions in Topfield 5100 file headers.

FIXED:

-          Watched programs at 0% would sometimes jump to 100% when playback was restarted.

-          Filenames with years (eg. Space 1999) would have had the year incorrectly truncated.  Numbers are now only removed if they are preceded by a special character (eg. Space-1999, Space_1999)

-          Opening an empty datafiles would still allow the delete key.

-          Pressing Delete on a running recording/playback in Archive after it has stopped would crash the Topfield.

-          File Info time would incorrectly show 11:60am.

-          Configuring Archive via TSR Commander would end up with a duplicated clock being displayed.

-          Recurring recording files may not appear if preceding via auto deleted outside of Archive.

-          If the DataFiles directory was emptied via file delete operations it would have caused Archive to crash.

V0.07    23 Dec 2005

NEW:

-          OK/PLAY KEY CONFIG.  There is now a new config option (#17) to swap the function of the OK and Play keys for resuming/starting playback of files.  (Note: OK will always be used to open folders)

CHANGED:

-          NAME SORT ORDER.  When the default sort order is set to "NAME", Archive will now open with the first file highlighted in the current directory (ie. alphabetic)  If there are no files, it will highlight the first line.

FIXED:

-          Dates of 1 month ago will now show as "1 mth ago" not "1 mths ago"

-          In the Config Menu the available activation keys would reset to the 5000 model despite what was entered in the Model Type field.

-          The UHF key could not be used as an activation key for the TF5000 models.

V0.06    20 Dec 2005

NEW:

-          LINE NUMBER.  A line number in the clock bar in the top right-hand window now indicates the current and maximum line number selection.

CHANGED:

-          LAST PLAYBACK WARNING. If there is no last valid playback file (eg. it was deleted) a message pop will now display when the Blue key is pressed to restart the last playback.

FIXED:

-          Logos for Radio Shows would sometimes show as TV Channel logos and vice-versa.

-          Put in place some OnScreenDisplay checks to stop Archive from activating when other TAPs may be active on the screen.

-          Fixed crash issue when scrolling to a folder/file number that was larger than the number of entries in /DataFiles.

-          Fixed sorting of recording files that don't have the file Attribute set.

-          Folders would sort in reverse alphabetic order when sorting by size.

-          Fixed the play/resume of files that don't have the file attribute set.

-          Archive would use the API call to retrieve the event information for active playbacks, which would cut off the description.  Fixed to use the full header info.

V0.05    14 Dec 2005

NEW:

-          LINE OPTION.  There is a new config options to allow either 9 (default) or 10 lines per page. (9 line option also now puts a background graphic at the bottom of the display)

-          MUTE KEY PASS THROUGH. The MUTE key is now passed through to the Toppy when Archive is active.

-          NEW SCREEN BORDER OPTION. There is now a config option to turn off the blue screen border around Archive and have it set as transparent.

-          NEW RECORDING CHECKING OPTION. By default Archive will detect a file as a valid recording by looking for ".rec" at the end of it's name, and checking the file attribute is set for a valid recording.  If recordings are transferred back to the Toppy via Altair, they may not have the attribute correctly set, therefore they will not show in the archive list.  There is now an option to ignore the checking of the file attribute and just check for ".rec".  WARNING: the ".rec" only setting may display corrupt recordings in the archive list which may not play.

-          LIST NAVIGATION. You can now page through the file list using the << (Rewind) and >> (Forward) keys as well as the existing Vol-/+ keys.

CHANGED:

-          NEW STARTUP PROCESS.  When Archive is initially started (eg. from Autostart) it will scan the entire disk and record file details.  Each time Archive is then activated, or directories are changed, it will do a brief directory scan for new/deleted files (eg. ones that may have been removed via AutoMove or AutoDelete TAPs) and show the archive.  This should make subsequent invocations of Archive faster.

-          DATE/TIME/SEQUENCE STAMPS. The matching of date/tme/sequence stamps has been updated to cater for the following:

"_#", "-#", "_+", "-+", "*99*99 YYYY*MM*DD", "*YYYYMMDD_9999", "*YYYYMMDD", "*YYYY*MM*DD",  "*YY*MM*DD",  "*DDMMYY",  "*DD*MM",  "*MMDD",  "- DDD", " DDD", "-99", "-9"

Where:

* = -_./ space

9 = 0 thru 9

D, M, Y = 0 thru 9 (therefore DDMMYY would also match YYMMDD)

NOTE: There is no actual checking for valid date or month values.  Therefore 44-99-00 would match the DD*MM*YY pattern.

Will now match on multiple stamps.  eg. ER_27/11/05_# would reduce to ER

NOTE: Does NOT reduce the combined JAGs recordings eg. "ER+21:30-22:30.rec" will not be reduced as this actually represents 2 shows and it is best to keep this indicated in the filelist.

-          LAST PLAYBACK FILE. If the last playback file is deleted, the last playback entry details are now also deleted, so the Blue key will not try to restart a missing file.

-          NEW HELP SCREENS. Changed the format of the helps screens to show the actual Topfield remotes.

-          WATCHED ICON. The icon used to indicate that a show has already been watched is now a more subtle, white tick on a blue circle.

FIXED:

-          The list help window would be overwritten when the playback or recording information was updated.

-          The order of the date/time stamp matching would mean some stamps were incorrectly matched.

-          If the FileName column was set to display FileName (without date/time stamps) then a rename of the file was not automatically updated.

-          Starting playback of a running recording using PLAY would result in an error code=-1.  PLAY and OK now both work for starting playback of running recordings.

-          Pressing EXIT when "YES" was highlighted in any of the Yes/No message boxes would still select "YES".  Fixed to always select "NO" if EXIT is pressed.

-          Disk space time remaining would sometimes show >60 minutes.

-          The parent-directory icon was being printed for normal folders when moving through files.

-          Radio recordings would show the wrong logo (would show TV logo).

-          If a show was being played at it was > 95% through playing, the playing icon AND the watched 'tick' would both be shown.  Now the progress bar is always shown for active playbacks.

-          The freedisk space graphical bar was actually displaying the wrong way.  eg. if there was 20% space remaining the bar was showing 20% full instead of 80%.

V0.04    21 Nov 2005

NEW:

-          COLUMN OPTIONS.  There are now several configuration options to determine what information is shown in each of the columns.

-          INFO LINE.  New option to have either 2 lines of the event short description for the highlighted progresm shown at the bottom of the screen, or 1 line plus additional recording information (Channel name, date recorded, size).

-          SORT / DISPLAY WITHOUT DATE/TIME STAMPS.  Filenames are now sorted, and can be optionally shown without date/time stamps.  (eg. ER-1, ER-2, ER 28/12/2005, etc will now all sort on "ER" and then the date, and can all be shown as "ER" in the filelist) (Detects the following stamps: "_#", "-#", "-9", "-99", "_+", "-+", " DD/MM/YY", " DD-MM-YY", "DD.MM.YY", " DD/MM", " DD-MM", " MMDD", "- DDD", " DDD", " YYYYMMDD", "DDMMYY")

-          FILE DELETION. You can now delete a file that is currently playing back without having to stop the playback first.

-          RECORDING/PLAYBACK STOP. You can now stop an active playback or recording from the filelist by pressing STOP.

-          HELP. Pressing RED key will display a help screen for Archive operations

-          DEFAULT SORT ORDER New option to have a default sort order.  Will be used each time Archive is activated.

CHANGED:

-          FILENAME SIZE.  Despite the Toppy API allowing extra long filenames, it's been shown that filenames should be restricted to around 60 characters.  Filename is now a max of 60 characters.

-          CURRENT DIRECTORY.  Archive will now keep track of the current directory and will return to the directory that was last displayed.

-          PROGRESS BARS.  There is now a configuration option to control the colour/style of the progress bars show in the file list for playbacks and recordings.

FIXED:

-          If the last file on a page was deleted it would have crashed the Toppy.
