QuickBlank

Download version 0.2 (updated 07/02/2008)

This TAP allows you to change to a blank, silent channel with a single button press. Great for when you're choosing what to watch from the archive, or don't want to be distracted by live TV when playback ends.

Usage

During live TV, pressing 0 will switch to a blank channel. To change back, press Recall or enter a channel number.

If you're using TF5000Display TAP, you may find that the front panel takes a few seconds to update to the new channel number.

Blank channels are switched to in the following order:

901-912, 300, 100, 101, 103, 104, 105, 108, 303, 304, 305

If one is unavailable due to not being present in your channel list or due to ongoing recordings, the next in the list is tried. If none are available, the channel will not be changed.

Installation

To ensure a blank channel will always be available to switch to during recordings, QuickBlank requires 6 blank channels - one for each UK multiplex. You can either rely on data channels in the UK Freeview lineup, such as Teletext, or use the supplied BlankChannel.tap to create 6 dedicated blank channels.

Upon reboot, you should get a blank channel when pressing 0.

If you're using TF5000Display, you may also want to add the following entries to your TF5000Display.chn file to make all the blank channels show with the same channel number on the front panel.

901=0
902=0
903=0
904=0
905=0
906=0
